Built for Taller Work Boots
When you're wearing taller work boots, sometimes a standard-length work sock simply isn't long enough. Our 'Max Plus' Thick Merino Wool Work Socks provide the same thick cushioning, warmth and durability as our popular 'Max' socks, with approximately 8cm of additional leg length for extra comfort and protection.
Part of our Heritage Collection, 'Max Plus' socks are knitted in our Crookwell, NSW factory using 75% Australian-grown merino wool and 25% nylon. With thick terry-loop cushioning throughout the inside of the sock, they're ideal for farmers, tradies, emergency service workers and anyone who prefers extra coverage inside taller work boots.
If you're working outdoors and spending long days on your feet 'Max Plus' is designed to deliver lasting comfort and durability.
Why You'll Love Them
- Thick full cushioning for lasting comfort inside taller work boots, tactical boots, and hiking boots, and gumboots.
- Approximately 8cm longer than our traditional 'Max' socks for additional leg coverage.
- Australian-grown merino wool naturally helps regulate temperature and manage moisture.
- Durable construction designed for everyday work and outdoor use.
- Proudly made in Crookwell, NSW from premium Australian-grown merino wool.
Designed for Extra Coverage
'Max Plus' has been developed for customers who love our traditional 'Max' socks but need a little more leg length.
The additional leg coverage helps protect your lower leg from rubbing inside taller work boots while providing extra warmth in colder conditions.
Inside, thick terry loops create soft cushioning underfoot while helping trap warm air for insulation. Combined with the natural breathability of Australian-grown merino wool, 'Max Plus' helps keep your feet comfortable across changing conditions.
If you don't need a knee-high sock like our 'Hermann' style but find traditional crew socks a little short, 'Max Plus' provides the perfect middle ground.

Looking for a Different Fit or Style?
- 'Max' - Prefer a traditional crew-length work sock? 'Max' offers the same thick cushioning in a shorter length.
- 'Hermann' - Need even more leg coverage? 'Hermann' sits just below the knee and is ideal for gumboots, motorcycle boots and taller boots.
- 'Max Loose Top' – Need a gentler fit? The same thick cushioning and leg length as 'Max', with a gentle, elastic-free top for a more relaxed fit around the calf.
- 'Wombat Loose Top' - Don't like nylon? Made with merino wool and a small percentage of hemp, our 'Wombat' crew-length socks are a softer, synthetic-free option.
Why Choose Merino Wool?
We use Australian-grown merino wool because it's naturally breathable, helps regulate temperature and manages moisture better than many synthetic fibres.
By combining merino wool with nylon, 'Max Plus' socks offer the natural comfort of wool together with the durability needed for everyday work and outdoor wear.

Are they suitable for steel cap work boots?
Yes. Their thick cushioning makes them an excellent choice for steel cap work boots, provided your boots fit correctly.

Yes. They're well suited to gumboots where you want additional leg coverage without wearing a knee-high sock.
If you prefer a sock that sits just below the knee, consider our 'Hermann' socks.
Can I wear them all year round?
Yes. Australian-grown merino wool naturally helps regulate temperature, making them comfortable throughout the year, even in hot conditions. They also help wick away moisture, so say goodbye to sweaty feet!
Can they go in the dryer?
No. To avoid shrinkage, we recommend a cold, gentle machine wash and line-drying away from a heat source. For more information, see our Care & Storage guide.
Will they itch?
No. Australian-grown fine merino wool is naturally soft and comfortable for all-day wear.
Why do you use nylon?
Nylon adds strength and durability, helping the socks withstand everyday wear while retaining the comfort and performance of merino wool.
If you're after a synthetic-free thick, full-cushioned sock you may wish to consider our Merino + Hemp 'Wombat' socks.
Where are 'Max Plus' socks made?
Every pair is proudly Australian made at our factory in Crookwell, NSW.
Why is XL more expensive than the other sizes?
XL is available in Black for $49. The pricing is higher than our other 'Max Plus' sizes to account for the additional yarn used to make our XL socks.
